Ahead of next week’s launch, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios released the official launch trailer for Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath
The launch trailer, seen below, shows that the story picks up directly where Mortal Kombat 11 left off as Fire God Liu Kang, the new keeper of time and protector of Earthrealm, is ready to activate Kronika’s Hourglass and restart history. But, now that Kronika’s Crown has been destroyed, he is forced to team up with the most unlikely of allies in the villainous Shang Tsung. The soul-stealing sorcerer, along with Fujin and Nightwolf, must now embark on a time-bending adventure into the past to recover the Crown as the fate of two worlds hang in the balance.
The expansion will be available digitally in the UK and Ireland on May 26 starting from 4pm BST. The add-on will add three new playable characters: Fujin, Sheeva and RoboCop all of which are showcased in the launch trailer. Fans of the first two Robocop movies will be happy to know that Peter Weller reprises his role as the super cop.
Those who already own Mortal Kombat 11 will receive new Stages such as the new Dead Pool, Soul Chamber, RetroKade and Kronika’s Keep arenas, along with Stage Fatalities, and the popular Friendships feature from the ‘90s. This will be released free of charge to every MK11 player.
The Aftermath expansion can be pre-ordered for £34.99 / €39.99 (SRP). Along with new story content and three new characters, the add-on includes three character skin packs (incl. three skins each) to be released over time and the “Thanks a Million” Johnny Cage skin. Or newcomers can pre-order the complete version of MK11 for £39.99 / €49.99 (SRP).
Pre-ordering the game rewards players with the Eternal Klash Skin Pack at launch, featuring three new character skin variants – “Unbound Rage” Scorpion inspired by Mortal Kombat (2011), “Son of Arctika” Sub-Zero inspired by Mortal Kombat: Deception and “Kori Power” Frost, a Klassic version of the Lin Kuei warrior.
